"Keep It Dark" for Cardiometabolic Health
According to researchers from Northwestern University, exposure to ambient lighting during planned nighttime sleep can increase risk factors for diabetes and metabolic syndrome. When compared with sleeping in a darkened room, individuals exposed to light had impaired cardiovascular function during sleep and increased insulin resistance the following morning.
