Vitamin B9 Boosting Diabetes Incidence?
A new study by the Diabetic Research Institute Foundation analyzes the potential role of synthetic folic acid (vitamin B9), found in fortified flour, bread, and other grain products, in the development of diabetes. Since the FDA’s Flour Fortification Initiative was launched decades ago, the scientific community has questioned a seemingly simultaneous, and alarming, increase in the rate of diabetes in the U.S. population. A study published in January 2018 in Scientific Advances describes promising advances in healthcare technology that employs wireless technology embedded in soft contact lenses. Good News for Egg-Lovers With Diabetes
A new study published in May 2018 in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition re-establishes eggs as a central component of a healthy diet when additional dietary changes are included in the overall nutrition plan for individuals with prediabetes and diabetes. In fact, the study found that there was no difference in cardiovascular risk markers at the end of the trial in which two groups of subjects consumed either high-egg or low-egg diets.
