Pollution and Possible Link
to Diabetes

According to a new study released by Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri, in collaboration with the Veterans Affairs St. Louis Health Care System, there appears to be a strong link between air pollution and diabetes. The research team hopes their findings will support public policy changes targeting opportunities to reduce environmental pollution and subsequently decrease the risk of diabetes. Read more.

Metformin Protective Against Pancreatic Cancer?
A new study by the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey in New Brunswick explores the potential role of the antidiabetic agent metformin on decreasing the progression and treatment of pancreatic cancer. Although no link has been suggested between diabetes and pancreatic cancer, metformin's unique pharmacologic action may offer a novel intervention for both diseases. Read more.
