ACIP Changes to the 2022 Adult Immunization Schedule
With the recommendation of a universal hepatitis B vaccine for adults aged 19 to 59 years and some significant changes to advice on other common adult vaccinations, pharmacists are likely to remain busy with vaccines in 2022—as if COVID-19 vaccines and boosters were not enough. No Increase in HZ After Concomitant RZV Series
Concomitant vaccination is acceptable for nearly all recommended vaccines in the United States. Little previous research has been done on whether giving the recombinant zoster vaccine (RZV) series with other vaccines might increase the risk of later developing a case of herpes zoster (HZ). That led to a new study that found no increased HZ risk when more than just RZV was administered. Read more.

Army's Pan-Coronavirus Vaccine Shows Promise in Early Trials
The Army and Walter Reed Army Institute of Research are getting positive early results on the Spike Ferritin Nanoparticle COVID-19 vaccine. The "pan-coronavirus vaccine" performed well with nonhuman primates, and the first phase of human trials will end soon. The trials have been reported to show a potent immune response and wide-ranging protection against SARS-CoV-2 variants, as well as other types of coronaviruses. Read more.
