LMWH Improves COVID-19 Patient Survival, Appears to Shorten Disease Duration
Months into the COVID-19 pandemic, clinicians realized the importance of anticoagulation in patients with severe infection. Exactly why and how that worked was not fully understood, however. Now, a new study finds that low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH) clearly improves survival of COVID-19 patients, but researchers were surprised by indications that it also appeared to lessen the duration of symptoms.
