Both Teva and Sandoz have introduced lansoprazole delayed-release orally disintegrating tablets (ODT), the generic equivalent of Prevacid SoluTab. Lansoprazole ODT is a proton pump inhibitor indicated for the treatment of active duodenal and gastric ulcers and the common symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease, including heartburn and erosive esophagitis. The orally disintegrating tablets dissolve quickly and can be taken with or without water, making it easier for patients who have difficulty swallowing pills to take their medication. Both companies will market lansoprazole ODT in 15-mg and 30-mg strength tablets.
