In an APhA2023 education session presented titled “Back to Basics: Not Talkin’ tRAASh,” Joe Saseen (right), PharmD, BCSP, BCACP, FAPhA, focused on the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS) system, its effect on blood pressure regulation, and the benefits and risk of the drugs that block this system. In an APhA2023 education session titled “Back to the Basics: Nonsterile Compounding 101,” Matt Martin, PharmD, BCSCP (above), explained the FDA’s role in 503 compounding, when to utilize certificate of analysis for active ingredients in compounds, how to assign beyond-use dates to nonsterile preparations, and how to calculate the Minimum Accurately Weighable Quantity for balances as defined by the FDA.
